Today, we will explain the preferred characteristics of proper fruit seedlings (before hedging an orchard) and the ideal plantation times of seedlings. To guarantee the quality of its origin, fruit seedlings must be:
- vaccinated on proper rootstock
- at least one year of age
- of proper length and thickness (as per the variety and rootstock)
- furnished with a smooth and mature body
- furnished with well-formed buds
- furnished with a healed vaccination location
- furnished with well-formed and well-spread roots
- furnished with disease and pest-free roots
An orchard can either be planted in a new area, a location where other crops have previously been grown or on the site of an old orchard.
Building An Orchard In a Area With Shrubbery: A field should be cultivated by plowing it in the first year, and this land should remain fallow rather than using it for fruit growing. Old orchards are typically reserved for field crops (for two years) – it is more beneficial to grow fruit by changing the variety.

Marshlands and Turbary Areas: If these areas are well-drained, fruit growth can be supported as long as field crops are planted for a period of two years.
Planting An Orchard Instead Of Planting Field Crops: Fruit growing can be supported in the same year by adequately preparing the soil. In order to ensure that irrigation, soil tillage, fertilization, combat and harvesting are easier, a well-planned arrangement of crops is necessary.
Depending on the size of the planned area, the land can take on the desired form by implementing a fork, rotary, plough, crumber or scraper.
