Organic Raspberry Production‏

The best regions for raspberry production aren’t very hot in summers, and there shouldn’t be any rain in harvest season. Most suitable soil is rich in organic matter, and can hold water with good drainage. Soil thats is very heavy, light, or with bad drainage should be avoided.

If a tractor is to be used, 200-250 centimeters of distance between saplings is enough. Digging the marked places and putting the saplings inside and completing the planting the same way as other fruit trees while paying attention to 20cm planting depth is advised.

Fertilizers with nitrogen content should be used with care, as too much nitrogen will make the fruits soft and reduce their market value. For maximum production, putting 3-4 kilograms of organic fertilizer into the planting holes is best.

Best Done in Autumn and Spring

Right after planting, the rods should be cut off at 30 centimeters of height. Increasing the number of raspberries is best done by collecting shoots and planting them. This is best done in Autumn and Spring, but the shoots should at least be 15 centimeters long.

When done right, raspberry production yields 1000 to 2500 kilos for each decare. But in our country this is about 600 – 800 kilograms.

Harvest is done by picking the fruit twice every week. In hot and dry weather, it can be done more often. Fruit is then made ready for transport.
