Typically, a Drip Irrigation system is used to water valuable plants (vegetable, fruit etc.) that grow in light soil in regions that commonly lack water or have low quality water. For instance, it is used to water valuable plants in the East and South regions of Turkey in the commercial production of hothouse flowers and its field of application increases day after day.
It is particularly helpful when watering flowering plants because, in contrast, watering via a sprinkler system may cause plants to lose their flowers since they are so sensitive to external factors. Overall, economical usage of water is highly advised in rainless regions, which makes drip irrigation systems highly desirable when producing this type of agricultural crop.
Drip Irrigation systems can be applied easily to open and closed hot house fields, fruit ranches, banch plants (like vegetables) and growing products that have high economic value. Drip Irrigation systems are flexible and can be applied to such diverse environments as parks, highways, trade facilities and houses. This type of system is used almost exclusively in fruit ranches and in recent years, it has become the preferred method of irrigation in vineyards to ensure that there are no big problems/loss of efficiency on the grapes. Agriculture engineers even tout the benefits of drip irrigation and are quick to point out the crops (particularly potatoes) are much more sensitive to water stress than other plants due to weakness in their origin system. The stress risk of a potato plant is significantly decreased when a drip irrigation system is employed, compared to other systems. A few resources indicate that drip irrigation systems can even be used to grow sugar beets and wheat, however, these plants aren’t advised due to prohibitive costs in using the drip irrigation system along with the fact that the crops would have to be especially thick.

Hello Ahmet Korkmaz,
I’ll make a presentation about irrigation systems in METU. Would you please upload some more schematics (bigger size) about the systems? and when you do it please let me know.
Thanks
