In our country, the sheep are sheared in May or June. Time to begin shearing is when the spring wool starts to become fluffy and wool fat starts getting burned. The sheep shouldn’t be fed the day before shearing. Shearing shed should be located in a well lit, clean and large place. Shearing should start with rams, than sheep and lambs. The ewes which lambed should be left to last. If the shearing isn’t done in time, the wool will keep swelling up, then it will fall apart slowly leaving the sheep naked. [click to continue…]

Generally, gestation period of sheep is between 148 and 152 days, it is generally accepted as lasting five months. During this period, and especially during the 4th and 5th months of the pregnancy, sheep should be fed with quality dry grass, clover and straw. Transporting the sheep, keeping them in wet places, feeding them with moldy and spoiled food or not feeding them enough, letting them drink too much cold water, hitting them and some diseases might cause miscarriage.
