Post image for Organic Raspberry Production‏

The best regions for raspberry production aren’t very hot in summers, and there shouldn’t be any rain in harvest season. Most suitable soil is rich in organic matter, and can hold water with good drainage. Soil thats is very heavy, light, or with bad drainage should be avoided. [click to continue…]

Post image for Improving the Soil – Drainage

Many plants like good drainage without losing the water in soil too fast. This is especially important for plants that are harvested early. The ideal situation is when the minerals are surrounded by a thin layer of water and there is air between the organic materials. The roots will circle the minerals and they will be able to absorb the necessary nutrients and will be able to breathe.

The point of drainage is the removal of water and adding limestone and organic materials will make the clay become lumps and improve drainage. It can also be improved by ventilating or plowing the soil, depending on climate factors. If plowing is done in dry air, the clay will not stick to the machine and soil will easily be seperated to a sand like quality, easing the flow of water. Adding sand or pebbles might also improve the drainage of soil, but this will require a great amount of both. As it is expensive, that method can only be considered for small fields.

Post image for Drip Irrigation Systems: a Simple, Surprisingly Cheap and Easy Way to Improve the Drainage Of Plants

Are you looking to find the right solution to help improve the drainage system of your garden?

For example, why not try checking out the range of irrigation systems currently available to buy on the web and see if this can solve your plant drainage difficulties. You may also find that many such systems that can be found online are actually very easy to install and use – indeed much less complex than one may think.

I learnt many useful irrigation methods thanks to Agriculture Guide – you can find comprehensive irrigation systems reviews, and also what they are, where they used, how you can construct them easily etc, – for details you have to look Agriculture Guide’s irrigation systems tutorials and reviews. Especially I strongly advise you to look their drip irrigation page too.

White mushrooms, table mushrooms and button mushrooms, these delicacies have many names among the customers for they are very popular indeed. If you want to grow your own mushrooms there are several choices you might consider if you’re asking the question “where?”.

Mushroom production is usually done in caverns, refrigerated warehouses, light-proof greenhouses, tunnels, storehouses, cellars and naturally, modern mushroom cultivation facilities.cultivate-mushrooms-2

The general requirements of mushroom production are as follows:

The constructs must be entirely made of concrete to prevent vermin infestation and to create the required moisture by soaking.

There must not be any cracks on the walls and the ceiling and insulation must be complete.

To be able to maintain the ventilation, temperature, moisture control and for cleaning, the chosen zone must have electricity and water sources. Also ease of transportation should be considered.

The ceiling must be at least 2.5 meters high and the floor must have a canal for drainage. If there isn’t a canal, a hole mushrooms stockcould be dug to collect water.

Depending on the heating system, you should plan where to place the pipes and the ventilation systems beforehand.

It’s best to have another well lit room  to disinfect the shoes and to wear an apron before entering the production zone.

Post image for How To Improve The Drainage Of Plants and Trees In A Surprisingly Cheap and Easy Way

Justine Burt asked:

I have two orange trees, one Meyer lemon tree, a fig tree, a cherry tree and an apple tree in my small backyard. I love having fruit available year round. Unfortunately, our clay soil does not drain well but our fruit trees still do OK. Any advice on improving our drainage?

Actually there are many ways to improve drainage using several soils that are readily available for purchase, but if you want to improve drainage in a cheaper and easier way (at least I think so), use a sponge . Yes… you read right — a sponge!

The Agriculture Guide’s Foolproof Way To Improve Soil Drainage Using A Common Sponge:

  1. Buy several sponges or collect them throughout your home.
  2. Locate a pair of scissors.
  3. Begin cutting your sponges into pieces that are the size of a walnut or hazelnut.
  4. Mix these small sponge pieces into the soil around trees or plants that need better drainage.

This surprising technique is commonly used at our farms in Turkey. Of course there are many ways to improve soil drainage, but I’m particularly partial to using the sponge method which my father’s associate brought to our attention.
